Aviation Expert in the C&IT A List

BI WORLDWIDE's resident aviation expert, Chris Townsend, attended C&IT's A List event yesterday at Kensington Roof Gardens. The A Listers, described by C&IT as 'the events industry's leaders in waiting' is a group of events industry professionals under the age of 35 who have already made a significant impact.

Chris was selected from a number of candidates within BI WORLDWIDE's events team as this year's A Lister. "Chris was chosen for his constant dedication. He continuously keeps his eye on the ball for complex events, has an awareness of costs and leverage best fares for our clients," explains BI WORLDWIDE's special events director, Mark Taylor.

Chris has been at BI WORLDWIDE for six years and has worked in events team all that time across project delivery, del reg and, of course, group aviation management. "I love working in the events team," explains Chris "there's never a dull moment, it's fast-paced and exciting."

Chris attended last night's A lister's bash with BI WORLDWIDE's A lister from last year, Katrina Rannard. "It was a fantastic venue, and I enjoyed meeting others from the industry. There was one other travel manager there so it was nice to see someone else from the aviation side at the event."

Quick Fire Questions:

Fav destination: Monaco Grand Prix - fast cars, helicopter transfers, track-side apartment and pit passes - need I say more!

Worst aviation moment: When an airline - Nationwide Airways - went bust just three days before an event. We chartered a plane for the client, but it was a fraught few days!

Now a serious one, this year's aviation challenge: The stability of airlines and their routes is likely to change because of the cost of fuel. We're likely to see routes cuts, fares increasing and reduced services. It's a bit of a worry because the industry was just picking up again after a few traumatic years...ash cloud...economic downturn.
