Events Design Manager Ian Rowlands represented BI WORLDWIDE at this year’s M&IT Agency Challenge hosted at the luxurious five-star Landmark Hotel in London.
The two day event took place on Thursday January 23, where Ian and 28 other agency representatives were invited to take part in a number of team building activities as well as learning about different suppliers within the events industry through a number of presentations and one to ones.
The list of suppliers included Visit Denmark, PortAventura Convention Centre, CitiTravel, Choose Chicago, and Dubai Convention and Events Bureau.
All of the attendees were given a mini iPad which contained all of the event’s agenda. It also created an easier network amongst the party with the option to book appointments and message suppliers.
After each supplier gave their presentation, all of the agents were asked to give their feedback by completing a short survey on the iPad. The overall results were then displayed on a screen for everyone to view.
Ian said: “The whole event was pretty slick and very interactive with the use of modern technology.
“There was a good mix of agency people who attended the event. It was a great opportunity to build relationships and get to know people.”
All of the agents were split into six teams, Ian being in the purple team. They were given a variety of challenges such as creating a 30 second advert for one of the suppliers, identifying and matching suppliers by their baby photo, watching a video and identifying the items, observing supplier presentations and completing questionnaires afterwards.
Commenting on the overall event, Ian said: “The event was nicely broken down with the challenges being in between the presentations.
“These types of events are brilliant for increasing and topping up existing knowledge within the event industry and worthwhile attending.”
The event was drawn to an end on the Friday evening with a formal dinner where all of the team adverts were shown and the winning team announced.
