Day 6: Christmas at Gleneagles, Scotland
To spend Christmas in the heart of Scotland at the world famous Gleneagles resort is a distinctive, once in a lifetime occasion, suitable for families or corporate events.
BI WORLDWIDE Design Manager Louise Turner has planned a number of events at Gleneagles and as part of our 12 days of Christmas blog special, Louise shares her experiences with us.
Gleneagles is a truly inspirational venue, offering a superb choice of unique activities for an incentive group.
Being infamous in the world of golf, Gleneagles was firmly placed on the map as this year’s host to the Ryder Cup where Europe once again triumphed over the USA.
Gleneagles is located only one hour away from Edinburgh and Glasgow, so there is the potential for a white Christmas in the stunning Scottish countryside.
Decorations, lights and Christmas trees adorn the drive way, main entrance, reception, each of the bedroom and public areas all accompanied by the smell of log fires, cinnamon and pine trees.
During the Festive period there is something for everyone including ice skating, cupcake making and decorating, a relaxing spa treatment, falconry, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, off road driving and wildlife photography to name a few.
Guests can arrive by private train into Gleneagles’ own station and choose to take part in a lesson at the cookery school, archery, gun dog training with the resorts own gun dog school (the only one of its kind in the world), driving amphibious vehicles, discovering Scottish crafts, learning the skill of polo, experiencing the finest golf and equestrian facilities, not forgetting on site fine dining with two Michelin stars.
For conferences, corporate meetings, team building and private dining, the facilities are second to none. The venue offers an array of function suites to accommodate groups small and large. A Scottish gala dinner is always the perfect end to a stay at Gleneagles with guests greeted by a piper, the ‘Ode to the Haggis’ and Burns Supper themed menu.
Post dinner enjoy a traditional ‘Beat to the Retreat’ performance and Scottish country dancing, not forgetting that your male guests are provided with kilts and females given tartan sashes or scarves to wear for the evening.
I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Gleneagles from parties of 2 to 402.
