St Moritz and White Turf

Day 9: St Moritz and the wonderful White Turf

St Moritz is one of the world’s most famous winter holiday resorts. Chic, elegant and exclusive with a cosmopolitan ambiance, BI WORLDWIDE’s Events Client Relationship Director Mark Taylor shares why St Moritz is a must-visit destination during the winter season.

St Moritz is located at 1,856 metres above sea level in the middle of the Upper Engadin lake landscape. The dry, sparkling ‘champagne climate’ is legendary as the celebrated St Moritz sun shines for an average of 322 days a year.

One of the highlights of the winter season is White Turf, a unique, exclusive and top-class event with exciting horse-racing, gourmet catering, lively music and inspiring art exhibitions.

Held every February, the White Turf is the highlight of the winter season for the international jet set. The buzz and excitement of White Turf is unlike any other and when the competitors in the Gubelin Grand Prix of St Moritz charge out of the starting gates, the famous St Moritz roar will resound across the whole area.  One lap to go and everybody will be straining to see who will be victorious in this very special race and earn bragging rights for the next twelve months.

This is the place to see and be seen. Feel the adrenaline as the horses pound past to reach the finishing line across the frozen lake.  Admire the skill of the riders and the athleticism of the horses as they work in harmony together against the most magical backdrop.

Attracting up to 30,000 spectators to St Moritz every year, this superb event combines the magnificent scenery of the Upper Engadine with three unforgettable racing days leaving positive memories and a feeling of pure enjoyment.

Groups can take advantage of either a full hospitality package or Grandstand seats for the day and what better way to finish off the day than dining and soaking up the evening’s atmosphere at Lapin Bleu, a very popular and relaxed restaurant full of life and great regional and Italian cuisine.

St Moritz has many other attractions, excellent skiing and a wonderful way of life but it is the annual White Turf that really sets it apart creating a new legend every year.

If St Mortitz sounds like a perfect incentive for your group, whatever the season, give us a call today and see how we can help you create that unforgettable trip for your colleagues.
