The meaning of Christmas Spirit

Day 12: The true meaning of Christmas Spirit

Most of us associate Christmas as a time of giving, surrounded by loved ones and spending quality time together. However, while enjoying our Christmas celebrations, we often can forget that throughout the world, people are experiencing poverty and suffering.

BI WORLDIWDE is a company which actively encourages charitable giving; we are inspired when a client challenges us with an events brief to involve their values of being charitable and environment friendly.

Events Design Manager Louise Turner has had experience of in organising charitable events for some of our existing clients.

“It should be noted that it is not just at Christmas that we research ways for our clients to give something back as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is paramount on a number of events BI WORLDWIDE operates.

“One particular client, within the financial sector, requests a CSR activity as one of their primary elements on their annual incentive. This allows guests to network and work as a team as well as leaving a lasting legacy in their chosen destination.

“Previous CSR activities include arranging a sports day for under privileged primary school children in Borneo complete with a celebratory cup for the winning team as well as medals for individuals and post event buffet lunch. A monetary donation was also made by the client in order to provide funds for daily food provisions and mattresses for bunk beds.

“Whilst in St Petersburg our client worked with a hospital that predominantly cares for orphaned children infected with HIV and affected by drug abuse. These long stay patients receive help to try and make their lives more interesting with organised games, craft activities and amateur dramatics. The guests created an outdoor play area by painting walls with bright colours and planting a garden area with freely growing plants and blossoming flowers. A large TV was also purchased for the play room allowing the children to enjoy escapism from their everyday reality.

“I am sure you will agree a CSR element on an event provides guests not only with a unique opportunity to help a local community but also a truly humbling experience.
