Weekend away in Bruges

Day 3: Weekend away in Bruges, Belgium

A city break to Bruges is perfect if you are looking for a quick getaway that isn’t too far from home yet offers you the chance to absorb some festive spirit during the holidays.

Surrounded by beautiful architecture, Christmas markets, Belgium chocolates, museums, and lots and lots of shops; Bruges offers a vast variety of activities perfect for any type of event.

Marketing Executive, Josie Copestake recently visited Bruges and shares her experience with us: “Bruges is a beautiful location. Everywhere you look is very picturesque. The architecture of the buildings inside and out is absolutely stunning.

“The best part about Bruges is that it is so diverse and will appeal to a wide range of people. In terms of using Bruges as a location for an event, you could host a dinner or conference in one of the many stunning venues available in the city.

“Daily activities could include a tour of the city via a boat ride along the canal or aboard a horse and carriage. I would highly recommend visiting the Ice Sculpture Festival. Each winter, a different theme is chosen and this year it was themed around The Hobbit. It was absolutely amazing.

“I would also recommend time for leisure. Everything is walkable in Bruges. There are so many shops from high end brands, to souvenir shops; you are guaranteed to find the perfect souvenir or gift. The shop windows are dressed very sophisticated and chic - they literally draw you in!”

Bruges is an easy location to get to. You can travel via the Euro Tunnel or fly direct to Ostend-Bruges International Airport which is 25km from the city centre.

Josie concludes: “I absolutely loved Bruges and felt like I was in Whoville from The Grinch minus the snow! If you are looking to find some Christmas cheer, a trip to Bruges is guaranteed to make you get into the festive spirit!”
