BI WORLDWIDE Maintains Top Sustainability Ratings

BI WORLDWIDE is proud to announce our latest ratings in the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Sustainability Index, an independent body who evaluates businesses' sustainability credentials across three categories: Economic, Environmental, and Social.

With our continued focus on sustainability across the business we have yet again been able to increase our Economic (89%) and Social (91%) scores during our annual re-evaluation, as well as maintaining a 100% score for Environmental which we achieved two years ago.

When compared against all other CSI suppliers who participate in CIPS, we are leading the way. Below are just a few of the highlights of the initiatives which have helped us to achieve these impressive scores:

Investors in People

Having held this accreditation since 2005, in 2017 we successfully gained Silver accreditation to the scheme. This involved a thorough audit of our processes, detailed interviews with a variety of Associates from across the business and completion of an in-depth questionnaire to assess our competencies against a number of frameworks. We have a project team in place working towards achieving Gold accreditation standard by 2020.

Good Neighbour Initiative & Volunteering Time

In addition to spending time volunteering for their own choice of charities, we have a dedicated committee of Associates driving various interactions with the local community in and around Newport Pagnell, where our UK office is based. BI WORLDWIDE allows each Associate 12 half (working) days each year, fully paid, to participate in a range of voluntary activities and has arranged numerous volunteering opportunities within the local community. This year we have taken part in a mass litter-pick of the local town centre, deep cleaning of a community centre, setting up and marshalling on carnival day, collaboration with the Christmas Lights committee and providing career advice to students at the local secondary school.

"We are very proud of the scores we have achieved in the CIPS Sustainability Index and, more importantly, of the commitment our entire team have shown to ensuring sustainability remains an integral part of the BI WORLDWIDE culture."

CARE (Compassion. Awareness. Respect. Education.)

We also run a corporate social responsibility programme called CARE, focusing on local support for youth development in South Africa, specifically supporting a project in Durban called Girls & Boys Town. They provide a safe home, food and support for 42 underprivileged children between 11 and 18. We have raised almost £8,000 so far for the charity through auctions, raffles and sponsorship events and recently had a grant of £5,000 approved from Meeting Needs, the UK Meetings Industry Charity, to build and manage an agricultural project to empower these young people to develop their commercial skills.

Don’t Drive to Work

BI WORLDWIDE encourages Associates to adopt healthy lifestyles and make a positive contribution to the environment. We run a Don’t Drive to Work scheme, which rewards associates who use other means of getting to work, such as walking, cycling, using public transport and car sharing.

Office Refirbishment

Central to achieving our full marks score in the Environmental category was the completion of our full office refurbishment a couple of years ago. We took the opportunity to overhaul our facilities and achieve many energy efficiencies with our lighting, temperature control and water amongst others and continue to benefit from the investment made.

Other initiatives which enabled us to showcase our sustainable credentials included the electric vehicle charging points in our car park, our electric pool car, a strong culture of recognition, personal development vouchers available to every associate each year, our nominated Charity of the Year, Ideas Factory suggestion scheme, links to behavioural economists which underpin all our clients’ solutions, our strong ethos of communication and all the work our SAVERS (Sustainability, Associate wellbeing, Volunteering, Environmental awareness, Reduce, Recycle, Reuse) Team continue to carry out each year.

Supporting all of this are the stringent processes, procedures and policies which BI WORLDWIDE utilise across all of our operations, guaranteeing we deliver the best quality we can to our clients and partners in the most sustainable way possible.
