CARIBBEAN | Christmas in the Dominican Republic from Marcos at Connect DMC Travel Services
In the Dominican Republic, everyone starts to feel Christmassy at the end of October. As we welcome the breeze of Autumn and move into the Winter, ornaments, decorations are put up and Christmas songs are played on the radio.
From the beginning of December, the Christmas parties for employees start. We dance, hold raffles and prepare lunches and dinners with seasonal recipes. There is also the excited expectation created by the Regalia Pascual (a Christmas bonus).
Noche Buena (night of the family dinner) on December 24th, is a night for families, friends and food. The famous Telera (a large bread, measuring approximately 30 inches), puya-roasted pig, baked leg of pork, turkey, chicken, and moro Guandule (rice and beans) all share space on the table, as well as sweets, coconut and fruits.
The Dominican people enjoy warm Caribbean holidays spending time with family and friends as the year comes to an end.
We wish you all a Christmassy Christmas!
