BI WORLDWIDE's Events Design Manager, Michelle Power, attended an educational event to Catalunya, Spain. We ask Michelle to share the highlights of her trip with us.
Bringing back memories
Costa Brava was my first holiday destination without ‘the parents’ so when I was invited to attend a Catalunya familiarisation trip I thought about 19 years ago when I descended on the British infested Lloret de Mar with its ugly holiday resorts, busy touristic streets and drinking sangria on the beach – classy!
Armed with hand luggage and a little duty free, myself and four other event agency representatives hosted by JG Collection and events by TLC, boarded a short BA flight from London Heathrow to Barcelona airport. From there we were quickly transferred 25 minutes out of the city to two gorgeous wineries and were handed our first glass of Cava. From that moment on I realised I had some serious misconceptions about the Catalonia area.
The Hotel Camiral (which opened in July) on the world-renowned PGA Catalunya Resort was to be our home for the next two nights and it certainly exceeded expectations. Set amongst two world-class golf courses, The Hotel Camiral offers five-star service in a truly world-class destination. Being a recently refurbished hotel (a Melia in its previous life), it challenges space with an impressive library positioned at its centre and pockets of space for any social gathering. Each of the 149 rooms is bright, spacious and overlooks the pool or golf course. It was very easy to see this hotel will soon become hard to get availability for and they have so much more to offer in the future.
